  • Dr. Michael R. Coppe

Dr. Michael R. Coppe is passionate about pediatric dentistry. "When I was in dental school, I did an extensive study in Sweden; I was interested in public health, and I visited clinics all over the country. The kids were great! Even if I didn’t know their language, I learned I could communicate with them with no trouble.” Since he was 11 or 12, there was never any question what kind of dentistry Dr. Coppe would practice – pediatrics because he liked the clientele. Dr. Coppe received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University and was awarded his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Harvard University. Along with his post-graduate training in Pediatric Dentistry from Children's Hospital in Boston and Harvard School of Dental Medicine, he also earned his Doctor of Medical Science Degree in Oral Biology from Harvard University. Many who know Dr. Coppe – patients and friends alike – know his passion for history, especially 18th century, local history. He was a Colonial reenactor for a long time, and several years ago, he joined the British Tenth Regiment of Foot to reenact the April 19th event on the Lexington Green as a Redcoat. Dr. Coppe has a number of other hobbies including sailing and model trains. If he could offer dental advice to parents or to patients, Dr. Coppe would say, "Take care of your teeth. Remember to floss and brush and visit us twice a year.”

  • Dr. Carolyn Coppe

Dr. Carolyn Coppe knew she wanted to be a dentist since she was a small child. "I grew up in this very office and was always aware of how happy everyone was that worked here. It was an easy decision to make". Carolyn completed her pediatric dental residency at University of California, San Francisco in 2008, after graduating from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. The town of Lexington has been a home to Carolyn since she was 8 months old, and she attended both Hastings and Bridge Elementary school before graduating from Lexington High School. Growing up, Carolyn was a member of the Hayden Precision Teams and still proudly wears the label of "Haydenette". Like her father, Carolyn enjoys sailing and can remember attending and participating in the reenactments held on Patriot's Day. After graduating from dental school, Carolyn accepted the opportunity to do research at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in Bethesda, Maryland. It was there that she explored a growing interest in work on dental stem cells from primary (baby) teeth, and she continued this research during her residency at UCSF. Eventually she completed her master thesis on this very topic and was awarded the prestigious Ralph E McDonald Award at the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Annual Meeting in 2008. This highly coveted award is given to the resident with the best overall research manuscript and presentation. In 2011, Carolyn passed the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry examinations. The Mission of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry is to verify to the public and to the health professions that a pediatric dentist has successfully completed both an advanced educational program accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation and a voluntary examination process designed to validate the knowledge, application, and performance requisite to the delivery of exceptional care in pediatric dentistry. Carolyn met her husband, Zach Peacock at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and they continued their training together at the University of California, San Francisco. Zach is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital. Carolyn and her husband are living in Lexington with their sons, Gregory Harper and Trent Stanley.

  • Dr. Stephanie Karapetian

Dr. Stephanie Karapetian joined the Coppe and Sears Pediatric Dental and Orthodontic team in the summer of 2017. Dr. Stephanie was born in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Los Angeles, California. Growing up she was involved in musical theater, playing the piano and she can tap dance! She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Miami where she was granted a Dean's Scholarship. Dr. Stephanie then moved to New York City to attended New York University College of Dentistry for her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. She graduated completing honors programs in Public Health, Aesthetic Dentistry, and Pediatric Dentistry. It was her outreach experiences that helped her discover that working with children was her passion in dentistry. She believes implementing healthy habits and taking time to explain the importance of oral health to both children and their parents is a crucial part of having a healthy future. Dr. Stephanie then continued to pursue her specialty training at NYU and Bellevue Hospital in Pediatric Dentistry. During her specialty training, she received a wide range of experience working with children with craniofacial anomalies, special needs, as well as children with complex medical histories. She has been working with NYU to create a new outreach program to Armenia, where her heritage lies, to facilitate care for the children there who have no access to dental care. Dr. Stephanie is very excited to be moving to the Boston area to serve the Lexington community. Having had her own positive experiences visiting the dentist as a child she understands the importance in working individually with each child in order to promote a lifetime of good oral and dental care. When not in the office, Dr. Stephanie enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and friends, cooking, reading, and trying new restaurants.
